Highway 12 construction near Litchfield begins May 23
Public meeting will take place on May 30
Motorists (including your customers and employees) will experience delays on Highway 12 near Litchfield as crews begin a three-phase construction project on Thursday, May 23, the second phase of the project will detour west of Litchfield. You are invited to learn more about the three projects at an open house Thursday, May 30.
The open house is scheduled from 5 – 7 p.m., in the Level One Community Rooms at the Meeker County Courthouse, 325 N. Sibley Avenue, Litchfield.
The Highway 12 project locations are:
-
Litchfield to Darwin
-
Highway 22 to Highway 24 near Litchfield
-
Fourth Street to Depot Street in Litchfield
The first project is from Meeker County Road 34 in Litchfield to County Road 14 in Darwin. Crews will remove and replace three inches of pavement, and construct turn lanes and a concrete median at Johnson Drive near Walmart. This project requires daily lane closures. Flaggers and a pilot car will direct motorists through the work zone.
The second project is east of Litchfield, from Highway 22 to Highway 24. Crews will overlay 4.5 inches of pavement. Motorists will detour on County Road 31 and County Road 11.
The third project occurs in downtown Litchfield from Fourth Street to Depot Street. Crews will add a thin layer to the road—known as a sealcoat. Motorists will experience daily lane closures and on-street parking will not be available.
All projects will provide a smoother and safer road surface and be complete at the end of July, weather permitting. Duininck Inc. is the contractor for all three projects, which total $2.28 million.
