Job Summary 
This position exists to provide guidance, direction, and leadership for the research, planning, accreditation, assessment and innovation efforts of the college aimed at increasing institutional effectiveness. The Director will develop and manage processes to ensure that meaningful data, analysis, evaluation, and supporting documentation are available to meet the decision-making needs of the college for academic and strategic planning; program evaluation, review and sustainability; enrollment; academic quality, assessment, and accreditation; and student success. The Director is also responsible for developing and leading planning functions, processes, and procedures for the college, including the strategic plan, annual work plan and specific planning processes within the college.  The position is also responsible for collaboratively leading innovation and improvement efforts within the college, promoting and supporting a philosophy of continuous improvement and a culture of evidence and informed decision-making across the institution. This position reports to the President, works closely with the Executive Committee, and serves on the President’s Cabinet.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Three (3) years or more of direct experience in research and analysis functions.
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as this position will communicate to multiple audiences through a wide variety of communication channels, including oral presentations, committee leadership, team participation, and both comprehensive and targeted written reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results within a team environment and to develop productive working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated organizational and management abilities supported by a comprehensive understanding of demographic, trend, labor market and organizational analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and conduct targeted research and analysis for organizational clients/constituencies.
  • Demonstrated abilities in database management and applications.
  • Demonstrated commitment and respect for diversity.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, supervise, and evaluate staff, including demonstrated ability to train and provide lead work to staff.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Graduate studies or degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Work experience in higher education.
  • Proficiency with advanced quantitative research methods.
  • Experience with predictive analytics, business analytics, forecasting/modeling, and propensity score matching.
  • Experience with student learning assessment strategies, trends, and outcomes at a college level.
  • Proficiency with statistics and data analysis software packages(s) such as SPSS, STAT, or R.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Assess, BI software, and data visualization tools (Tableau).
  • Experience leading college-level accreditation efforts and assessment programs.
  • Experience supervising grant preparation and implementation.
  • Project management associated with accreditation and assessment processes.
  • Executive experience working in a unionized college or university environment.
  • Record of leading successful innovation and organizational change efforts.
  • Experience developing and using data-driven evidence and proven practices to analyze problems/issues and identify solutions.
  • Experience serving on Institutional Review Boards.
Additional Requirements 
In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
